Board your private air-conditioned car or van, and begin your journey to Cairo — a scenic drive of around 2.5 to 3 hours through the Nile Delta countryside. During the ride, your guide will share fascinating insights about Egypt’s history, daily life, and the legacy of the pharaohs.

The Great Pyramids of Giza – Egypt’s Eternal Icons

Arriving in Cairo, your first stop is the awe-inspiring Giza Plateau, home to the Three Great Pyramids and the enigmatic Sphinx.

The Pyramid of Khufu (Cheops): The oldest and largest of the three pyramids. Your guide will explain its original purpose, construction techniques, and its symbolic significance.

The Pyramid of Khafre (Chephren): Known for retaining some of its outer casing stones near the top.

The Pyramid of Menkaure: The smallest, but no less important, offering clues to ancient religious practices.

The Great Sphinx: Guarding the plateau, this half-lion, half-human sculpture is carved from a single slab of limestone. Your guide will discuss its symbolism, myths, and theories.

Traditional Egyptian Lunch (Optional Upgrade)

If time allows and you choose the upgrade, you’ll stop at a clean and authentic Egyptian restaurant for a local lunch. Enjoy dishes like:

• Egyptian rice and salads
• Koshari or stuffed vegetables

Saqqara – The Birthplace of Pyramid Building

Next, head to the Saqqara necropolis, one of the most significant ancient sites in Egypt. Located around 30 minutes from Giza, Saqqara was the main burial ground for the ancient capital of Memphis and is home to the first pyramid ever built.

Highlights of Saqqara:

Step Pyramid of Djoser: Built around 2630 BC, this was the world’s first pyramid, designed by the genius architect Imhotep for Pharaoh Djoser. Your guide will explain how this structure revolutionized ancient architecture.

The Pyramid of Unas (if open): This small pyramid features the oldest pyramid texts ever discovered, revealing ancient Egyptian beliefs about the afterlife.

Tombs of the Nobles: See beautifully decorated tombs with scenes of farming, dancing, and daily life in Ancient Egypt — a fascinating contrast to the grand monuments at Giza.

Museum of Imhotep (optional): A small but well-organized museum showcasing artifacts and architectural innovations from Saqqara.

Saqqara is quieter and less crowded than Giza, offering a peaceful and more immersive experience into the depths of ancient history.

Return to Alexandria Port

After a full day of exploration, you’ll begin your comfortable drive back to Alexandria. Your guide will ensure you’re returned to the port in time for your ship’s departure, with memories (and photos!) to last a lifetime.
