Pickup from Alexandria Port – Your Egyptian Adventure Begins

Upon your cruise ship’s arrival at Alexandria Port, a representative from Tango Travel will be waiting to welcome you with a personalized sign. You’ll then be introduced to your professional English-speaking Egyptologist tour guide who will accompany you for the entire journey.

You’ll board a modern, air-conditioned private vehicle and begin your scenic drive to Cairo, which takes around 2.5 to 3 hours. During the journey, your guide will provide you with a rich background on Egypt’s history, culture, and modern life, giving you context for the incredible sights ahead.

Enjoy a short rest stop along the highway for refreshments or a coffee before continuing to the capital.

Arrival at Giza – The Great Pyramids of Egypt

Your first stop in Cairo is the legendary Giza Plateau, home to one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World:

The Great Pyramid of Khufu: The largest and oldest of the three pyramids, standing at over 146 meters tall. You’ll be astonished by its scale and precision.

The Pyramid of Khafre: Slightly smaller but notable for retaining some of its original limestone casing at the top.

The Pyramid of Menkaure: The smallest of the trio, but equally impressive in its architectural detail.

Your guide will explain the engineering marvels, religious symbolism, and historical significance of these structures. You'll also learn about the mysteries and myths surrounding their construction.

Then, you’ll be escorted to the Panoramic Viewpoint – the perfect place for capturing wide-angle photos of all three pyramids together. You’ll have the option to ride a camel (optional add-on) for an unforgettable photo with the desert backdrop.

The Great Sphinx & the Valley Temple

Next, visit the majestic Great Sphinx of Giza, the mythical guardian of the pyramids with the body of a lion and the face of Pharaoh Khafre. Towering at 20 meters tall and carved from a single block of limestone, it’s one of the largest and oldest monolithic statues in the world.

You’ll also explore the Valley Temple, located adjacent to the Sphinx. This well-preserved mortuary temple is where ancient rituals of mummification were performed and is a key part of the pyramid complex.

Lunch at a Local Restaurant

After your exploration of the Giza Plateau, you’ll head to a clean, air-conditioned local restaurant for a delicious Egyptian lunch. Your meal will include a variety of traditional dishes such as grilled kofta, chicken, rice, salad, and local bread (vegetarian options available upon request).

Relax and enjoy the flavors of Egypt while soaking in views of Cairo’s skyline or the distant pyramids.

Visit the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square

After lunch, you'll be driven to Downtown Cairo to explore one of the world’s most important museums – the Egyptian Museum.

Located in Tahrir Square, the museum houses over 120,000 ancient artifacts, including:

The treasures of King Tutankhamun, including his famous gold mask and royal jewelry

Mummies of ancient pharaohs such as Ramses II and Hatshepsut (optional Mummy Room entry available)

Statues, coffins, and artifacts from the Old, Middle, and New Kingdoms

Your guide will take you on a curated tour of the museum's highlights, making sure you get the most out of your visit without feeling overwhelmed.

Optional Stop – Local Bazaar or Papyrus Institute

If time permits, you’ll have the chance to make a short stop at either a local bazaar for authentic souvenirs, a papyrus institute to see how ancient paper was made, or a perfume shop featuring traditional Egyptian oils.

This is a great chance to interact with locals and bring home a piece of Egypt.

Return to Alexandria Port

After an enriching day filled with history, culture, and unforgettable moments, you’ll head back to Alexandria in your private vehicle. Upon arrival, your guide will assist you with returning to your cruise ship in time for departure.
